Tourism in Savannah, GA: The Midnight Influence

Tourism demand in Savannah, Ga. is characterized by tax receipts received from the local ad valorem tax imposed on room rental at lodging establishments. Demand is modeled as a function of cost factors, national and regional income, and idiosyncratic regional factors, including the release of a best-selling book and movie set in Savannah. Preliminary results suggest that the popularity of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil contributed to Savannah's allure as a tourist destination.
