The Savannah 30 Stock Index and Regional Employment: A Leading Indicator?
The relationship between Savannah MSA employment and the Savannah Morning News stock price index of regional companies, the Savannah 30, is studied. Changes in the Savannah 30 lead changes in regional employment by approximately 9 months. This result is consistent with similar findings for the equity price-economic activity relationship in data of other regional economies. |

An Economic Impact Assessment of JCB on the Savannah Area Economy
This study estimates the economic impact of JCB's manufacturing facility on the Savannah MSA. The Savannah MSA is home to JCB's only North American production facility, as well as its U.S. headquarters. Assuming that employment at the plant is 550 workers, an additional 836 workers in the region are supported by JCB's operations. These employees will earn $42.4 million in income and benefits. Also, regional businesses are estimated to earn an additional $194.6 million in sales revenue as a result of the plant. |
