A Savannah Area Industrial Targeting and Recruiting Strategy: The Savannah International Airport as a Link to the Regional Economy

The purpose of this study is to identify manufacturing sectors that have the greatest likelihood of contributing to the growth and diversification of the Savannah economy. The area targeted for economic development is the region in the immediate vicinity of the Savannah International Airport. A total of 459 industries were reviewed as potential targets. Seven of these were selected for in-depth analysis. Two of the seven selected were in the areas of medical and surgical products, two are in electronics, two are drug and chemistry related, and one is in the plastics industry.
The Economic Impact of the Savannah International Airport, 1998

The purpose of this study is to quantify the impact the Savannah International Airport on regional economic activity in Bryan, Chatham, and Effingham counties in 1998. The total economic impact of the Savannah International Airport and airport related activity on the local economy in 1998 was approximately $2.0 billion and created 16,167 full time equivalent jobs total.
